EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING

The studio is transformed into an open environment where everyone can freely mark-make and create abstract artworks for sketchbooks, portfolios, or personal projects. Explore different materials and work within a mixed-media practice to create a diverse body of work through illustration, print, installation and performance.

Drawing materials become an extension of the body, be spontaneous and draw with an element of surprise.  The aim is to help step out of your comfort zone, engage creatively, play and experiment with alternative drawing techniques.

This workshop will show you how to:

  • Be experimental within your drawing practice

  • Draw and mark-make

  • Learn varied approaches to drawing in a unusual way

  • Explore drawing and mark-making with a range of different mediums and colours

  • Incorporate materials such as string, tape, fabric, found objects and stitch in a playful and expanded approach to drawing

  • Look at other artists and how they have used colour, texture, shape and line to explore and communicate their designs

All materials will be provided in this workshop, and participants are encouraged to explore any materials they may have at home or sourced from a charity shop for printing during the session.
