Indigo Dyeing

Those interested in experimenting with textile techniques for surface design will love the indigo dyeing workshop. We will explore shibori resist dye techniques, creating a range of patterns through scrunching, folding, pleating and trapping objects within natural materials, such as cottons and linens. Nicole will show you basic stitch resist techniques, folding, clamping and wrapping.

In a full day workshop Nicole will show you how to prepare an indigo vat. In a 2.5 hour workshop the vat will be prepped before hand, with supporting technical sheets for you to take home.

All materials are provided in the workshops, you are also welcome to bring your own fabric and final pieces to indigo. I also encourage for you to see what you have at home to up-cycle and transform, rather than buying something new. Please wash your materials prior to the workshop and wear cloths that you don’t mind getting a bit messy in.

This workshop is suitable for teachers, designers, students and for those who are curious about design. The indigo dye workshop is also suitable for textiles, fine art, fashion and interiors. No experience necessary.

*Prices vary depending on the length of the workshop + the amount of people. Please email me for more details through the ‘CONTACT’ page.
