Maker & Material Lab 2016-2017

The Maker & Material Lab project introduced the 1st year BA students (Glass, Ceramics, Metal, Jewellery, Product & textiles) to new skills and approaches to create ‘in the spirit of making’. The aim of the two day project was to embed thinking through doing and building on their introduction to materials and processes. The idea of the two days was to explore the themes of ‘Structure, Combine & Bundle’. At the end of the two days, the students had a collection of samples or ideas to take forward into future projects. The students had the option to work independently or collaboratively. On day one, we took the students to The Work & Play Scrap Store to source their materials for the following day, we then took the students on a studio tour at Wimbledon Art Studios to meet artists and their spaces.
