Sublimation Printing: Disperse Dyeing
This textile workshop is suitable for designers who want to translate their design ideas from paper onto fabric using the heat press. On this course, we will experiment with transfer printing, using liquid disperse dyes and ready made paper dyes. Disperse dyes can be liquid, which are applied to paper through printing or painting onto the surface, then your paper designs are transferred to fabric using the heat press. Colours can be layered and flat objects and stencils can be used as a resist. For best results, these dyes work best on synthetic fabrics such as Polyester Suede, Acetate Satin, Polyester Sateen and Polyester Crepe de Chine.
No experience necessary, all materials are provided. Please wear cloths that you don’t mind getting a bit messy in.
This workshop can be adapted from a 2.5 hour workshop, to an all day workshop. If you are interested in an all day workshop, we could combine two techniques, such as Sublimation Printing & Flocking or Foiling.
This workshop is suitable for teachers, designers, students and for those who are curious about design. The disperse dyeing workshop is also suitable for textiles, fine art, fashion and interiors. Participants are welcome to bring additional material with them if they wish. Feel free to make your own hand cut stencils prior to the workshop, this will allow more time for printing during the day.
*Prices vary depending on the length of the workshop + the amount of people. Please email me for more details through the ‘CONTACT’ page.
